Middlesex University Dubai History

Middlesex University Dubai is a British higher education establishment with an overseas campus located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is privately held and was established in the year 2005. The campus is it’s the first overseas campus and it currently enrolls over 3600 undergraduate and graduate students. 

MDX Programs, Courses, and Schools

The University of Dubai comprises seven schools offering a range of Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in a number of subjects. The schools include the School of Business, Accounting and Finance, Law, Science and Technology, Health and Education, Arts and Design, and Media. 

Middlesex University Dubai offers programs in Business Management, Accounting, Marketing, Tourism Management, Digital Marketing, Investment Management, Commercial Law, International Law, Global Governance and Sustainable Development, Information Technology, Psychology, Electronic Engineering, Criminology, Education, Graphic Design, Journalism, Creative Writing, and Film and Digital Media.

Middlesex University Dubai Infrastructure and Services

Middlesex University Dubai is a privately held higher education establishment located in the United Arab Emirates. The institution is a British university with an overseas campus in Dubai and has its campus based in the Knowledge Village, a part of the Technology and Media Free Zone.

It is ranked amongst the top 500 institutions globally by the Times Higher Education World Rankings. It is also ranked 90th globally in the Rankings by Times Higher Education.

1. MDX Campuses

It has a modern and urban campus located in the Knowledge Village, United Arab Emirates. The campus was established in 2005 and offers a range of services and facilities for students in addition to housing the academic departments, administrative headquarters in the Middle East, and Faculty offices.

The campus is also located close to all the amenities and is well-connected to the rest of the city via excellent public transportation. The campus offers state-of-the-art classrooms and lecture halls, seminar rooms, auditoriums, laboratories, engineering labs, computing facilities, and leisure and recreational facilities.

2. MDX Student Clubs

It comprises Team Middlesex, a one-stop point for all the competitive and recreational sport and social activities offered at the campus. The clubs include Social Clubs, Sports Clubs, Cultural Clubs, and Hobbies Clubs. It is also home to a Student Council offering support to all the students if needed.

It also has its own Student Magazine called the RED Beat Magazine. Students can contribute to the magazine by writing articles and is available for all the students for free. The student council also organizes a number of events every year including Dance Nights, Fitness Days, Sports Contests, Dance and Drama events, and Literary Festivals to name a few.

3. MDX Medical Services

It has a dedicated Health and Safety team aimed at assisting students with any medical emergencies. They can be reached by calling +971 56 808 5534 or emailing hso@mdx.ac.ae. Its student accommodation also offers 24/7 emergency support and there are a number of clinics, hospitals, and dispensaries available in the vicinity of the campus to seek medical help.

4. MDX Libraries

Its campus comprises two libraries located in Block 4 and Block 16 of the campus. The libraries offer extensive print and online resources including books, journals, periodicals, and special collection items in addition to knowledgeable and supportive staff. The libraries also offer silent study areas, printing and scanning facilities, and computer workstations.

Student Life in Middlesex University Dubai

1. MDX Student Society

Team Middlesex and the Student Council are the focal points of all student affairs at the campus. They run over 50 sports, cultural, and social clubs aimed at strengthening and enriching student lives. Its student council also has its own student magazine and organizes a number of cultural events each year.

2. MDX Sports and Fitness

It also offers extensive indoor and outdoor sports courts and halls catering to sports such as Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Martial Arts, and Rugby. Team Middlesex also organizes a number of sports competitions and contests every year and also offers health and fitness facilities on campus.

3. MDX Health and Wellbeing

It has a dedicated Health and Well-being Committee catering to students facing personal challenges or learning disabilities. The committee also offers assistance via one on one counseling to students facing challenges with academics or culture shock.

It also offers health and fitness centers in addition to student learning assistants for students. There are a number of Wellness Support Groups available on campus connecting like-minded students seeking help with personal circumstances or studies. 

4. MDX Residential Life

It currently partners with Myriad Residences which is located 35 minutes from the campus. The residences are connected to the campus via a Shuttle Bus service and offer 24/7 security and modern amenities. There are a number of sporting facilities available and the student council organizes a number of events each year which lends a community feels to the campus.

5. MDX Food and Drink

There are a number of cafeterias, fast food chains, healthy eating options, restaurants, and eateries available with Block 7 of the Knowledge Park catering to the students. The restaurant serves a range of cuisines and caters to all budgetary preferences. The Knowledge Park also offers a number of eating options in its vicinity from cheap bargains to fine dining restaurants.

6. MDX Short-term or Weekend Getaways

The campus is centrally located and offers easy access to a number of tourist attractions such as Burj-al-Arab, Burj Khalifa, Palm Jumeirah, Mall of the Emirates, Skydive, and the traditional Gold Souks. The students can also visit a number of cities for weekends including Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Sharjah, and Muscat.
